He said
To the Princess Bride
I will always come for you,
But one day he didn’t
So she started reading
Horror genre instead.

Marry me,
Said the first boy
She ever touched down there
I will love you forever,
‘Till he cheated on her
With a true love
He didn’t marry either.

Marry us,
Said the rebounders
And mama’s boys
Like she owed them
Just for dating her
Left her feeling empty
Guilt trip for a honey moon.

Let’s get married,
They said,
Second time around,
One foot out the in-door
She waited at the altar
While he ran
Away with the spoon.

We must get married,
She shouted
When time was running out
And this one said,
Yes, because
There was nothing else
To do that day.

Marry me,
She asked
Her one true love
At last,
Then wept into his chest
When he told her
That he couldn’t …
